Removing the center solid aluminum plate ventilation cover of the Yamaha MX-10000 stereo power amplifier reveals the four massive capacitors and torroidal power transformer. This power transformer accounts for a great deal of the amplifier's weight, along with all the thick solid aluminum panels; aluminum can, in fact, be quite heavy.  To the left and right of the capacitors and transformer are the left and right channel electronic circuit boards with their respective heatsinks visible through the ventilation slots.  The superb build quality of this amplifier become plainly evident.

The back panel of the MX-10000 amplifer was simple and uncluttered.  Visible are the left and right channel gold-plated input jacks, the gold plated grounding lug directly beneath the input jacks, and the left and right channel speaker terminals. Below the speaker terminals are the input and output mini-jacks for remote control.  The back panel featured two standoffs that protected the speaker terminials and jacks and could take the entire weight of the amplifier if it needed to be turned upright.
